Message System - The heart and soul of Basecamp! We use messages for the majority of our project communications. It creates an easily-searchable centralized repository of all of our correspondence.
When posting a message you choose the team members from both your company and ours that you want included in the message thread
Attach files or docs just like in emails
Email notifications are sent to the included parties each time a message is posted
You can reply to notification emails, which will automatically be posted to Basecamp as a message comment

Files - This is where all the contracts, project assets and other files will be stored and made accessible to everyone on the project.
Just like messages, you will receive notifications when a new file is posted or updated
Files posted in Messages also show up in this section
Add any assets that have been requested to this section and notify the person who requested them

The best way to insure the health and success of a project is to be an active participant. The best way to do that is to use this tool that has been incorporated into the process. Post messages, read comments, share files, be a part of the project and a part of its success.
Don't be afraid to start your own message threads. New threads for new topics help keep things clear and organized
